Retina International is the global point of contact for patient-led charities and foundations concerned with retinal degenerative diseases. The support and promotion of scientific research to aid the discovery of effective treatments for age related and inherited retinal disease is a core objective and was the purpose of the establishment of Retina International in 1978.
Retina International develops bespoke capacity-building educational tools and provides up to the minute information on developments in research, innovation and policy to the retina community at large. Our work is designed to support our 43 member organisations, interested groups, learned societies and institutions in their communications and advocacy campaigns. These activities strive towards the development of global health policies to provide equitable access to the diagnosis, care and treatment of retinal disease.
Retina International is seeking to recruit a science communications professional for an exciting new part time role in our dynamic global organisation. Based in the Dublin office and reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the successful candidate will be responsible for the implementation of the organisation's communications strategy. The post holder will play a key role in fulfilling one of the core objectives of the organisation: the delivery of up to the minute information on relevant developments in research and innovation to the members and stakeholders of Retina International.
- Educated to masters level in a scientific discipline
- Previous experience in science or healthcare communications role
- Excellent copy writing skills, with experience of writing for and updating websites
- Proven track record in delivery of effective social media/online campaigns
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Interest in patient related advocacy
- Fluent in English
