Retina NZ has announced it will run a special youth event [7th-9th Feb] alongside the 2018 World Congress. Zane, Harriet & David are putting together a great programme of activities from Wednesday 7th to Friday 9th of February. Listed below are the great cultural and local attractions to give a real flavour of the spectacular country:
Wednesday 7th – Arrive, Meet & Greet
Thursday 8th – Bush walk to waterfalls with sighted guides to assist and visit Piha beach for a swim or surf with an optional surfing lesson. Free bus travel and a Free packed lunch will be provided.
Friday 9th – there will be a speakers breakfast with two inspirational speakers over a complimentaray breakfast. The first confirmed speaker is Paralympic World Champion swimmer, Mary Fisher. Later there wll be a guided tour of the Guide Dog training centre, maybe you will get a chance to pet a puppy!
Following all of this there is a a wonderful opportunity to visit Orakei Marae and receive a traditional Maori welcome, hear stories of the history of the area and its people, participate in cultural activities as well as enjoying a typical kiwi roast dinner – and Pavlova!
