Retina International is delighted to announce the appointment of Ms. Vicky McGrath to the position of Project Coordinator on a six month contract. Vicky will be working with the RI team and a coalition of global patient leaders from the retina, low vision and aging fields to develop and roll out an online Toolkit on Age-related Macular Degeneration.
Vicky is a skilled professional, with 20 years’ experience in start-up and multinational Medtech companies, primarily in the area of diagnostics working in the United States and in Ireland. Vicky’s expertise in the area of regulation, research & development and clinical trials is of particular importance to RI as is her extensive experience in project management.
On her appointment Vicky said ‘having worked in industry for almost 20 years I had been seeking the opportunity to work in patient advocacy andcommenced work with Rare Disease Ireland on a voluntary basis in January of this year. The opportunity to learn more about the work undertaken by patient led umbrella groups has been a hugely positive and informative experience for me. I have known of the great work being done bypatient organisations in the retina space for some time and I am delighted to have the opportunity to bring my experience to this important global effort. I am looking forward to working with RI to coordinate the voice of this community through the development of educational tools that, we hope, will go a long way towards lifting the barriers our patients face in accessing treatment and care and ultimately avoiding unnecessary blindness’.
